Fake certificate leads to suspension of Wakf Board official

Submission of a fake certificate has led to the suspension of an administrator at Wakf Board more than 30 years later. The Board has ordered an enquiry against the employee who was earlier also found involved in a sexual harassment case.

Interestingly, this is for the first time that the matterhas come to the notice of the Board, which has put the administrator undersuspension. Earlier a cleric at Syed Sahib Shrine in Sonwar, he was accused ofsexual harassment at the shrine.

   

An order issued by the Waqf Board reads, “Mr. Akhzar HussainS/O Haji Noor-ud-din Shah, Administrator, sub unit Munawarabad, Srinagar, ishereby placed under suspension pending enquiry on account of following seriouscharges.”

The order further states, “That he has submittedmatriculation qualification certificate to claim seniority and other attendantpecuniary and service benefits. That the certificate proved to be fake in viewof the communication received from chairman, BOSE vides No, F (Js-ver)B/KD/2019/F-19-17 dated 02.07.19.”

Apart from the fake certificate, the administrator has alsobeen accused of targeting Wakf during his speech on the death anniversary oflate Aziz–ud-din Hamadani in June this year. Also, the board in its order hasstated that Akhzar lacks devotion and responsibility towards his duties.

A senior official at the Wakf Board said, “The board has gotinformation about it and we responded accordingly. This was an importantdecision as the employee has earlier been found involved in a sexual harassmentcase.”

Wakf Board removed Akhzar Hussain as Imam of Syed SahibShrine and Mosque at Sonwar in November 2015 after a woman cop complained thatthe cleric was making obscene telephone calls to her. The Board also ordered aninvestigation into the incident.

The cop had recorded the obscene phone conversation withHussain and played these before the committee.

The Board set up an enquiry committee and said that thepromotion of the accused to the next higher scale of pay for a period of threeyears shall be withheld. The cleric was also banned from performing the dutiesof Imam and delivering of religious sermons in any Masjid of the Wakf Board forall times to come.

However, the committee later reinstated the former clericand treated his suspension as leave period which invoked criticism among thepeople.
