Fake state subjects: Basharat Bukhari blames Mehbooba for inaction

A former minister on Wednesday alleged that then chief minister Mehbooba Mufti did not take any action in a case related to issuance of fake state subjects.

Addressing a pressconference here Syed Basharat Bukhari who was revenue minister in theMehbooba-led government said he had sent the file on the fake state subjects tothe then chief minister for action. Though Bukhari didn’t name Mehbooba hesaid: “I had sent the file to the chief minister. I don’t know what happened toit as my department was changed.”

   

“I didn’t sleep over thefile. What happened to file, the report prepared and recommendations of acommission that was constituted to probe the matter, I have no knowledge sincethe complete file was sent to the chief minister’s office,” said Bukhari, who quitPeoples Democratic Party earlier this year and joined National Conference..

Bukhari said he had also raised the issue in the cabinet and briefed it about the violations that had been committed by officers. “It triggered a heated argument as BJP ministers were also in the cabinet, but I didn’t relent and put across my views. I also moved a note along with recommendations to the cabinet seeking its approval for not only cancellation of fraudulently issued certificates, but also for action against the officers involved,” said Bukhari.
