National Conference president and Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday paid a visit to the shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Zain Ud Din Reshi (RA) at Ashmuqam, Pahalgam, a NC spokesman said in a statement.
Dr Farooq whilepaying obeisance at the shrine said, “Reshis brought the essence of Islamicteaching to every household by localizing it. Their teachings touch a spectrumof issues encompassing both individual as well as the society in their fold.They talked of compassion, brotherhood and mutual respect which are pivotalaspects of any stable society. These great men paraphrased universal values intheir poetry. I have come here to pray for peace and prosperity of my state. Itis always spiritually elevating to come to places like these.”
Later he visited Pahalgam, where scores of people fromdifferent hamlets of the Lidder valley called upon him, the NC spokesman said.
While underscoring the need of having a multi facetedtourism policy party president said, “Once a popularly elected government comesto power under the vanguard of Omar sahib, a renewed attention will be given tothe development demands of all major and minor tourist destinations of thestate. The new government will have to work on the growth of increasedinternational arrivals.”
The NC president was accompanied by district presidentAnantnag and former MLA Altaf Ahmad Kaloo.
