National Conference (NC) leader and former bureaucrat Farooq Ahmad Shah today expressed gratitude to the Governor Satya Pal Malik for approving Flood Management Program (FMP), saying the project would go long way in strengthening flood protection system.
“I am happy that the project which was prepared by webcos, asister concern of Ministry of Water Resources, during my tenure asCommissioner-Secretary PHE and I&FC, has been accepted and approved by theGovernor administration, paving way for a huge flood management in the valley,”Farooq Shah, in a statement today, said.
He hoped that the work on the project shall be started verysoon.
During his visit to Shrai, Tangmarg, in district Baramulla,where a bridge was washed away in last week’s flash floods, Shah said,”Ferozpora Nalah has got a considerable chunk of funds in the programme whichwould ensure the safety of all areas situated alongside the nullah fromTangmarg to Hanjiveera. Rs 80 crore have been earmarked for the nullah in the programme.”
Meanwhile Shah also visited Khore, Sheerabad, Kongamdara andother flash flood areas and interacted with the people.
