The district administration on Wednesday ordered the closure of all schools and colleges in Srinagar in view of a gunfight underway in Fateh Kadal area of the old city.
An official said the decision to close the educational institutions has been taken to avoid law and order situation in the district.
A gunfight broke out between militants and the government forces in Fateh Kadal area of Downtown Srinagar early morning today.
Internet services have also been snapped in the district.
