In a shocking incident, a man killed his 22 year old daughter at Laridora in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday after the daughter refused to marry a person of his father’s choice. After committing the crime, the accused walked straight to the nearby police station to confess.

According to police, Javed Ahmad Khan, a baker by profession on Tuesday morning approached police station Chandoosa and claimed to have killed his daughter. “We were taken aback after Khan confessed of killing his daughter. We rushed along with the accused to a nearby forest where the body was lying in a pool of blood,” said Nasir Ahmad, SHO Chandoosa.

The body, according to police, bore torture marks. The girl was strangulated to death. Later, autopsy was conducted at the Baramulla district hospital after which body was handed over for last rites.

The police officials said that preliminary investigation suggests that deceased girl did not accepted his father’s proposal of marrying a person of his choice, as the girl was adamant on marrying on her personal choice.

The mother of the deceased girl said that her husband Javed Khan has married another woman at Sangrama where he runs a bakery shop. She said on Tuesday he took her daughter along and said ahead of Eid he has lot of work at shop so he will take his daughter along for help.

“She was my elder daughter and without any second thought she left along with her father. We were informed later he has killed her in a forest just three kilometres from the house,” said mother of the deceased girl.

The entire area of Laridora village is in shock. Hundreds of villagers while demanding stern action said that the incident is first of its kind and they want complete justice.

As per relatives of the deceased girl, the accused has three daughters from his first wife and two sons from second marriage.
