FIR registered against Pulwama Nursing Home owners for violating COVID19 protocol

Authorities here Thursday lodged an FIR against owners of a private nursing home for allegedly continuing operations even after the facility was taken over by the administration and turned into an Isolation Centre for COVID19 patients.

An official said the district magistrate Pulwama,  Raghav Langer directed for registering thecase against the owners after it came to fore that a pharmacist in DistrictHospital Pulwama had misled the authorities. “The hospital managementcontinued to perform operations including private practice and carriedcesareans despite the fact that the hospital was turned into an IsolationCentre,” the official said.

   

The authorities had taken over the hospital and allresources following which an order was issued on March 28 Disaster ManagementAct-2005.

In a statement, the district magistrate said an FIR  under relevant sections of IPC, like 269 IPC(unlawfully or negligently doing something which is likely to spread infectionof any dangerous disease to life), section 270 IPC ( malignant act likely tospread infection of dangerous disease to life), section 271 IPC (knowinglydisobeying any quarantine rule), section 188 IPC (for disobeying any governmentorder), section 186 IPC (obstructing public servant in discharge of duties),section 420 IPC and section 51 of Disaster Management Act, has been registered.

Earlier, the authorities served notice to the Chief MedicalOfficer, Pulwama and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Pulwama, forallegedly showing sheer negligence in maintaining the hospital as IsolationCentre.
