'Forces damage houses, vehicles in old city'

The residents said that forces ransacked and damaged windowpanes of their houses when they were withdrawing after lifting of the curfew Tuesday evening.

The residents of scores of localities of old Srinagar alleged that forces damaged the windowpanes of residential houses and several vehicles Tuesday evening.

The residents said that forces ransacked and damaged windowpanes of their houses when they were withdrawing after lifting of the curfew Tuesday evening.

“Forces damaged the windowpanes of my house. They also damaged my vehicle,” said Nazir Ahmad Shah of BariporaNawakadal.

 He said that several other houses in his locality were also damaged. “They (troopers) pelted stones on houses without any provocation,” he added. 

Reports of ransacking of houses and damages to vehicles by the forces were also received from Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari, SafaKadal and several other localities.
