Government forces on Friday evening launched a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) in Daramdora, Keegam village of south Kashmir's Shopian district.

A police official said a joint team of army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police ring-fenced Daramdora, Keegam village at around 6: 50 pm and began a search operation.

The operation, he said, was launched after the forces received information about the presence of militants in the area.

"Lights have been installed and all the entry and exit points to the village were sealed with barbed wires,” said the official.

The operation was underway when this report was being filed.
