Government forces on Tuesday evening launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Lurow hamlet of Tral township in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official said that a joint team of Jammu & Kashmir police, army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 180 BN Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched the operation in the area following “specific” inputs about the presence of militants.

Residents said the forces deployed on Tral-Satura road near Lurow were carrying out searches.

“We are installing lights, making other arrangements and tightening the cordon to ensure that militants don’t escape from the area,” said a police official.
