Foreign delegations’ Kashmir visit futile exercise: PDP

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday termed the foreign envoys’ Kashmir visit a “futile exercise”.

Speaking to party workers at Handwara, the PDP president, who was on two-day visit to north Kashmir’s Kupwara district said that unless the ground situation in Kashmir changes, visit of foreign delegations would not bear fruit.

Mufti said that in the recent past, several delegations had visited Kashmir but nothing had changed.

“Delegations come and go, but what matters the most is the ground situation, which is not good,” she said.

Taking a dig at New Delhi, she said that Kashmiri mainstream leaders were being caged every now and then in their homes which was a proof that all was not well here.

Mufti stressed workers to strengthen the party at the grass root level and said that young and qualified youth should come forward to lead.
