Forest department starts plantation drive in Ganderbal

Jammu and Kashmir Forest department, Sindh Forest division Ganderbal, in collaboration with police launched a massive plantation drive in district Ganderbal on Sunday.

Senior superintendent of police Ganderbal Khalil Poswal was chief guest on the occasion.

“Around 1000 conifer and fruit plants were planted in campuses of police establishments of Gutlibagh and Dignibal areas,” an official said.

On the occasion SSP Ganderbal said that district police Ganderbal was committed to conservation of environment and forests and added that such plantation drives shall be continued in other district police establishments also. He asked public to go for maximum plantation during current month as it was best time to plant various kinds of trees.

DFO Sindh, Owais Mir, informed that Sindh forest division is going to plant 15000 plants under institutional plantation campaign in the month of March and the program with district police today was initiation of such drives.

On the occasion, saplings were also distributed among the sarpanchs of the locality and locals were apprised about the benefits and techniques of plantation.

Officials from forest and police departments were also present on the occasion.
