Forest department starts plantation drive in Ganderbal

Jammu and Kashmir Forest department, Sindh Forest division Ganderbal, in collaboration with police launched a massive plantation drive in district Ganderbal on Sunday.

Senior superintendent of police Ganderbal Khalil Poswal waschief guest on the occasion.

   

“Around 1000 conifer and fruit plants were planted incampuses of police establishments of Gutlibagh and Dignibal areas,” an officialsaid.

On the occasion SSP Ganderbal said that district policeGanderbal was committed to conservation of environment and forests and addedthat such plantation drives shall be continued in other district policeestablishments also. He asked public to go for maximum plantation duringcurrent month as it was best time to plant various kinds of trees.

DFO Sindh, Owais Mir, informed that Sindh forest division isgoing to plant 15000 plants under institutional plantation campaign in themonth of March and the program with district police today was initiation ofsuch drives.

On the occasion, saplings were also distributed among thesarpanchs of the locality and locals were apprised about the benefits andtechniques of plantation.

Officials from forest and police departments were alsopresent on the occasion.
