Formulate road map for excellent academic activities: Malik

Srinagar, Oct 1: The Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik today asked the management of Government Degree College Sopore to formulate road map for academic and co-curricular activities keeping in view the present scenario at national and international level and submit it to Government for approval.
 Malik was addressing a function to mark the Annual Day of the college. Malik who was the chief guest of the function, said that the college has produced a large number of professionals, administrators, business tycoons and besides great religious and social personalities in past 50 years.
 “Government is contemplating to declare many such colleges autonomous institutions so that the quality and standard of education in such institutions is enhanced and the college administration can function independently with financial support of the State Government,” Malik said.
 Earlier, Principal Prof. Nasreen Malik highlighted various activities and achievements of the College both in curricular and co-curricular fields. “Such celebrations go a long way in improving, enhancing work culture and encourage students and faculty to give their best,” Prof Nasreen said.
 She said that 5,500 “budding citizens” of the apple town are taught almost all the important streams including science, commerce and management. She urged the Minister to release more funds for fencing of the college and construction of women hostel and maintenance of existing infrastructure.
