Freezing of water bodies | Free ration distributed among locals, tourists

Keeping it in view the icy conditions Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) in collaboration with Kashmir Welfare Trust has joined hands with State Emergency Operation Centre to provide assistance by way of providing food-kits and emergency medicines to locals and tourists alike, who are staying in houseboats and are unable to move out due to the sub-zero temperatures and freezing of waters in Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake.

According to a statement by NTTA, “our volunteers whose contact numbers are given below can be contacted for the same (in case of emergency): For Dal Lake :Farooq Ahmed Katroo 7006221946: Farooq A Katroo 7889305720: Ali M Raga. For Nigeen Lake: Riyaz Ahmed 9419404099, Muzffar Ahmed 99065 66330.”

   

NTTA also applauded the efforts Amir Ali (Nodal officer State Emergency Operation Centre Srinagar) and his team for their dedication and steps taken towards the safety of the people in this regard. *NTTA appeals houseboat owners, tourists and people living around the peripheries of waterbodies to take all necessary precautions as prescribed by State Emergency Operation Centre and follow it in letter and spirit as the safety comes first*.
