Fresh exchange of fire reported in Kupwara village

Fresh exchange of fire was reported on Wednesday morning between the government forces and the militants trapped in Shatgund village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

An official said that a joint team of the state police and the army launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Shatgund Qalamabad area around 2:30 AM.

   

He said that the forces fired some speculative shots at the spot where militants were hiding.

He said that contact was established today morning after forces searched the area for nearly six hours.

An intermittent exchange of fire was going on when the report was filed, reported GNS news agency.

Meanwhile, authorities have closed educational institutions in Kupwara district and suspended class work in educational institutions in parts of the Valley.
