Fresh firing reported at gunfight site in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

A fresh exchange of gunfire was reported at the site of the gunfight in Penglana village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday after a lull of several hours.

Four army soldiers, two militants and a civilian have so far died in the gunfight that broke out shortly after midnight in Penglana. At least four soldiers have also been wounded in the gunfight.

   

An army spokesman has so far confirmed the deaths of four soldiers and two militants.

Reports said at least one more militant is hiding in the village. They said that three houses have been damaged in the firefight which is going on barely 10 km away from the spot of Thursday’s suicide bombing that left 49 CRPF troopers dead.

The identity of the slain militants hasn’t been established yet, said a police spokesman, adding that weapons and war-like stores have been recovered from the gunfight site.
