The residents of Durpora Manigam village on Saturday here appealed authorities to remove garbage from local irrigation canal in their area.
The residents said mounting garbage in the canal has choked it, leading to pungent smell in the entire area.
They said they have apprehensions that there might be outbreak of an epidemic in the area in case canal is not cleared of garbage soon.
“We approached authorities many times with our grievance, but it proved to no avail, said Shurjeel Ahmad, a local.
The residents also appealed district commissioner to resolve their issue.
