Ganderbal residents seek Sumo service

The inhabitants of Ganderbal have urged the Sumo Vehicle Drivers Association to start direct Sumo service from Lal Chowk to Ganderbal district.

A delegation from the area told Greater Kashmir, thatGanderbal is the sole district in the Valley, which does not have directconnectivity with the City.

   

“Sumo plies from the City centre to all the district routesof Kashmir division including remote areas of Kupwara and Tanghdar, except,Ganderbal area,” the residents said, adding that they have to avail the bus andsumo services twice, to reach Lal Chowk, which according to them is extremelylaborious and cumbersome, particularly for the patients intending to visit SMHShospital.

“Those who don’t have any personal conveyance, boardbuses/Sumos to Dargah Hazratbal and Soura respectively and from there on takeanother bus to reach Lal Chowk,” the inhabitants said.

They urged the Sumo vehicledrivers association to start the Sumo service directly from Lal Chowk toGanderbal for the benefit of the residents and employees travelling toGanderbal.Meanwhile, the students of differentinstitutions including the recently shifted Central University of Kashmir, havealso urged the Sumo Drivers Association to ply Sumos to their respectivecampuses.
