Gang of robbers busted in Sopore: Police

Sopore police Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who were looting people intimidating with the help of a fake gun.

The police at a press conference said that the gang was using a fake wooden AK-47 to loot the people in parts of Sopore.

SDPO Sopore Raja Majid said that during special operation the gang comprising four members was arrested by a team of Sopore police.

The officer said they recovered a fake wooden AK-47 gun, one motor cycle and two cell phones from their procession which they were using to loot the people.

Police identified the accused as Bilal Ahmed Rather (carpenter), Latief alias Tusqi, Farooq Ahmed and Ishfaq Ahmed, all residents of Sopore.

SHO Azim Iqbal told the media that the accused have committed many robberies in the town.  “The accused were active in the area for last three months. They are also involved in many drug peddling case,” the SHO said.
