Heaps of garbage have piled up along roads in the main town of Sopore, generating resentment among residents and shopkeepers against the municipal authorities.
According to residents of the apple town, the Soporemunicipal authorities were not doing anything to remove garbage from the roadsin the main market leading to blockage of drains too that stink.
“We complained to municipal authorities several times butthey don’t seem to be bothered at all,” said Mohammad Hafiz, a shopkeeper atIqbal Market, staring at accumulated garbage in front of his shop.
Muhammad Shafi, another shopkeeper at main Chowk said thatmounds of garbage have appeared every few hundred meters along the streetsmaking them a heaven for stray dogs.
The town’s residents are now worried about spread of diseaseas temperature rises.
