GDC Sogam’s Al-Anwar Library celebrates World Book & Copyright Day

The Al-Anwar Library of Government Degree College Sogam in collaboration with the College Seminar Committee on Wednesday celebrated the World Book and Copyright Day.

As per the release, the programme started with the recitationof Holy verses of Quran by Peerzada Omer of BG second semester.

   

Amir Amanullah, the college librarian, in his welcomespeech, highlighted the importance of the celebrating World Book and CopyrightDay.

The press statement said that the programme had threecomponents. In the first part, students spoke on the theme-World Book andCopyright Day, reading habits, importance of reading books and reading forpersonality development.

Farooq Faizan, assistant professor education, shared hisvaluable views and the first part concluded with the precious views of Dr MohdShafi Lone, principal of the college, who was the chief guest of the occasion.

The college principal highlighted the importance of fiction,non-fiction, novels and story books besides books by great authors of theworld.

He also suggested some books which are of prime importancefor the students to be visionary and responsible citizens.

In the second part of the program a quiz competition washeld. In the third component of the program, an exhibition was held on thefirst floor of the college main building where books from all subjectsincluding books of great authors of the world and biographies of great leaders,best seller books, fictions and non-fiction books in languages like English,Kashmiri and Urdu were exhibited.

At the end, Dr Bashir Ahmad, assistant professor Historypresented the word of thanks. Showket Akbar Dar and Syed Shazia anchored theprogram.
