Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has urged the people of Anantnag to stay away from polls. He also called for complete shutdown in Anantnag district on April 23 (Tuesday), the polling day.
In a statement here Geelani said, “We need to remainsteadfast on our resolve and tell the world that these elections are nosubstitute to our right to self-determination.”
He said, “Those who participate in elections and seek votesfrom people have an unending lust of power and wealth, which increases witheach passing day.”
He said, “We have invested mighty human material and everyperson, family and region has its own contribution which legalizes and compelsthe stakeholders not to let these precious sacrifices go waste.”
