Geelani condemns murder of Maulana Sami-ul-Haq in Pakistan

Strongly condemning the murder of Jamiet-e-Ulmaie Islam (JUI) president Maulana Sami-ul-Haq in Pakistan, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today said, “The difference of opinion is a good sign of a health society and it should always be constructive and purposeful.”

“Any society especially Muslim can in no way afford to be consumed by the inhuman acts. Moulana was a tall politico-religious scholar having a sound contribution in the educational and political spheres of Pakistan and his death in such a manner is very painful and sad,” Geelani said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Geelani condoled the demise of a veteran politician of Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) Khalid Ibrahim, describing him a brave and honest political leader who always stood by his principles and never compromised on them.

“He was a sincere voice of Kashmiris and always favoured accession of Kashmir to Pakistan and was bold enough to put forward his point of view despite domestic and national criticism,” he said

Condoling and consoling the bereaved families of Moulana Sami-Ul-Haq and Khalid Ibrahim, Geelani prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and courage to their families to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat has strongly condemned the continuous house raids on pro-resistance leaders and activist, arrests of youth in length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir and ‘physical torture’ of youth by forces.

“In Warapaw Aalastang, Ganderbal, where some militants managed to escape unhurt in a cordon and search operation a few days back, the forces have started to arrest the local youth and torture them just to take the revenge,” a spokesman of the Hurriyat (G) said in a statement.  “A few youth after arrest were forced to spend the whole night in open in this severe cold after interrogating them ruthlessly, endangering their life and they had to be admitted to SKIMS as they were critically ill.”
