“Shabir Ahmad Shah and Altaf Ahmad Shah have spent most oftheir life in jails and today also they are lodged in the Tihar jail for thelast two years. They are in their custody to answer any question and issuingnotices to their children is undemocratic and immoral,” Geelani said “Thebrazen tactic is a clear sign of political bankruptcy of the rulers”.

He said “the poor medical facilities, unhygienic food, increasing lock up period have rendered the prisoners as the victims ofhypertension and psychiatric problems”

Condemning the human rights ‘violations’ of the prisoners invarious jails in and outside the state, Geelani appealed to the UN Human RightsCommission, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and International RedCross to pay early visit to the jails and take stock of the situation regardingthe detainees of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Geelani paid glowing tribute to the militants whowere slain in Bijbehara gunfight.

He said, “New Delhi’s insensitivity, unconcern, denial andunrealistic approach are the sole reason for this unabated bloodshed in Jammuand Kashmir.”
