Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has paid rich tributes to five militants killed in a gunfight with the forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
In a statement Geelani said that “no day passes without youth being butchered and massacred by forces. Those fighting for their basic and fundamental rights are labeled as terrorists and gunned down day in and day out. Since past three decades, our nation while nourishing movement and demanding their right to self-determination, has presented huge sacrifices, however New Delhi with its military might, brutally killed thousands of innocent people.”
“Delhi’s haughty and stubborn approach is responsible for continuous bloodshed in the state. We are a peaceful nation and frequent incidents of encounters resulting into the martyrdom of youth, is a matter of serious concern for our oppressed and suppressed nation,” he said.
“These ultimate sacrifices have made our movement so precious that nobody can ever think of any compromise or betrayal. Rulers should bear it in mind that muscular approach can never force a nation to submission and unending killing spree and fear psychosis cannot last forever,” Geelani said.
Meanwhile Geelani while reiterating the demand for the return of mortal remains of both Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhamad Afzal Guru, said that “today on his 6th anniversary prayer ceremony was organized to pay tribute to our hero, however authorities laid curbs, restrictions and arrested hundreds of political activists. We strongly condemn police action and it is sheer bullying and highhandedness, he said.”
Warning authorities for their “oppressive and suppressive” measures, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman said that “all these arbitrary measures won’t deter us from pursuing our mission, nor we will forget those valiant sons who have sacrificed their precious lives for a sacred cause & our better tomorrow.”
Dukhtaran-e-Millat also paid tributes to the five militants, who were killed in a gunfight with the government forces at Kellam in Kulgam district on Sunday.
In a statement, a spokesperson of DeM said that “sacrifices of our youth will bear fruits. People of Kashmir need to remain steadfast in their goal of right to self determination. Ups and downs are part of every struggle.”
