Geelani was never provided with any security: Hurriyat (G)

Reacting to media reports on withdrawal of “security” to its chairman Syed Ali Geelani, the Hurriyat Conference (G) Thursday said it is a “brazen lie and such ridiculous reports need only to be laughed at”.

“Geelani has never been provided with any security by the government,” the resistance organisation said in a statement.

“Delhi rulers and their local stooges always try to hoodwink the world by this unrealistic and false propaganda through their paid media houses,” the statement read, adding that Geelani was neither provided with any security nor has he ever requested for it.

“He continues to be confined in his house for the last nine years. Forcibly occupying the gates and then claiming it to be the security is such a ridiculous report that the government and its agencies should be ashamed of,” the statement read.

“A similar false statement was aired by jingoistic media channels in 2014 floods when they claimed that the staunch anti-India and pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani was rescued by the Indian army. But this brazen lie was exposed when everybody here knew that Geelani’s residence was safe and there was no water logging in the area.”
