The district adminstration has started removing encroachments on Tral-Awantipora road here in Pulwama district on Monday following a report carried by the Greater Kashmir about this.
The private encroachments had choked this vital road sincedecades.
Greater Kashmir, in its April 22nd edition, had carried astory highlighting how administration during past four years failed to removethe encroachments on this road despite issuing multiple notices to theencroachers.
Everyday many vehicles got blocked near the Mukdam Mohalla.The bottleneck caused massive traffic jams in the town, endangering the livesof the patients being ferried to hospitals. The spot had also witnessed deadlyroad accidents during the past few years.
“After media highlighted the issue, administration directedus to complete the work without any delay. One part was demolished on Mondaywhile remaining will be done very soon,” said an officer.
“Now, we are sorting the issue out and the work is going onin full swing. We have also issued further notice to other encroachers,” headded.
