GMC Baramulla job aspirants fail to maintain social distancing

Authorities failure to maintain social distancing among the job aspirants, who were seen standing next to each in a queue for their walk-interview at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, has irked the onlookers.

According to eyewitnesses,”scores of job aspirants were standing shoulder to shoulder in a queue fortheir interview at the college here throwing health advisories for a toss.”

   

As per the reports, thecollege had recently advertised four lab technician posts for MedicalMicrobiology department. The candidates were asked to come for thewalk-in-interview on Monday following urgency to fill these posts.

As per the reports, the college authorities on Monday itselfpostponed the interview.

However, many were irked with the college authorities fornot making any arrangement to ensure social distance was maintained notcomplying with the health advisories while students were there.

 “I am surprised tosee so many students allowed to stand so close to each other. It seems noeffort has been made by the authorities to maintain physical distancing for thecandidates” said Farooq Ahmad, who had come along with his daughter from Sarnalarea of Anantnag.

Similar sentiment was shared by Shazia, a job aspirant fromShopian. “I came from Shopian amid Coronavirus scare. I was sure thatcomprehensive arrangements would have been put into place by the collegeauthorities here to maintain physical distance among the candidates. However,it was a complete mess here,” Shazia said.

The eye-witnesses said, “With no official bothering todirect these job aspirants to leave, the candidates continued with their casualinteraction with one another without maintaining any social distance even whenthe interview was postponed.”

The GMC Baramulla authorities, while postponing theinterviewing issued a notice which read, “The walk-in-interview for post of labtechnician microbiology is postponed due to non-availability of the executivemember of the GMC Srinagar due to the prevailing circumstances. New date ofinterview shall be mortified separately.”

No official was willing to come on record when asked whythere were no arrangements put in place to ensure social distance as hismaintained while the aspirants waited in the queue.
