Government appoints 15 law officers

The government on Tuesday appointed 15 law officers to represent it in Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

According to an order issued by the department of law, justice and parliamentary affairs, the government has appointed a senior additional advocate general, six additional advocate generals, two deputy advocate generals and six government advocates.

The government has accorded sanction to the appointment of these law officers in supersession of all previous orders.

Advocate Bashir Ahmad Dar has been appointed as senior additional advocate general while advocates Nissar Hussain Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad Chashoo, Asifa Padroo, Asif Ahmad Bhat, Shah Aamir and Mir Suhail will serve the government as additional advocate generals in Srinagar wing of the High Court.

While advocate Arif Skander Mir and Irfan Andleeb have been appointed as deputy advocate generals, advocates Asif Maqbool, Hakeem Aman Ali, M Uthman Gani, Saied Rafi Ganai, Muzaffar Bhat and Akeel Ahmad Parde will serve as government advocates.

After the PDP-BJP coalition government collapsed on June 19 this year and the state was put under governor rule, the law officers had submitted their resignations to the government.

The law department had, however, asked them to continue till further orders from the government.
