Governor Satya Pal Malik Saturday expressed grief over the demise of veteran journalist Rahul Jalali.
In a condolence message, the Governor conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, and Vice-President, Omar Abdullah, also condoled Jalali’s demise.
The party President, while expressing grief, said, “One more sane voice from the journalistic fraternity has turned silent. My sincere condolences to the deceased’s family. His death is a big loss to the journalistic community. May his soul rest in peace.”
The party Vice-President said, “We have lost a veteran Kashmiri journalist. It is a huge loss for the fraternity as well as for the state itself. He shall be fondly remembered for his immense knowledge on Kashmir. I pay my tributes to his soul.”
Besides, party’s Provincial President, Nasir Aslam Wani, chief spokesperson, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, and Provincial spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar, also paid tributes to Jalali.
Also, the officers and officials of department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) expressed grief on Jalali’s demise.
Soon after hearing the news about the death, a condolence meet was held at the Directorate of Information which was presided over by Director Gulzar Ahmad Shabnam.
The speakers recalled Jalali’s contribution and said that his role in cementing the relations between the department and the media would inspire the younger generations.
