A Kashmir boy has taken a gigantic task of making public servants answerable to the people by bringing them on his question-and-answer website.

19-year-old Aamir Ali Shah says his website ‘Speak Up Kashmir’ would provide people in the valley a platform to ask directly from experts and get instant replies to your queries.

“The sight of long queues of elderly men and women outside government offices always saddened me. I wanted to do something about it. That is how the idea struck me,” says Shah, who pursues BBA from Govt. Degree College Kulgam.

He said people can directly ask pose questions to the officials from the comfort of their homes.

“We (I and my small team) are at work to rope in various government departments. The aim to invite them is to make the officials answerable to public,” he said.

Shah understands that the task is not going to be easy, but the resolve to achieve your goal, he says, will keep him going.

“Although, it is a difficult task to bring them in public domain on such a platform, but they surely will come once we approach them with a positive mindset,” believes Shah.

He says that peoject is the beginning of a bigger dream.

“I don’t want the website to remain limited to government departments only. We will have experts on a wide range of issues like education, politics, health and sports who will answer to the queries of users,” says Shah.

The website (url: http://www.speakupkashmir.com/) – accessible on a PC, laptop, tablets and mobile devices- is the first of its kind in the valley.

“A user would need to sign up only once and a unique profile will be instantly generated for him. Then he can post queries and get answers,” says Shah.
