Govt orders establishing roadside amenities along Mughal Road

To ensure hassle free journey for commuters, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Thursday directed officers to immediately establish roadside amenities along the historic Mughal Road.

Khan made the direction while reviewing various issuespertaining to the important road, and directed Chief Engineer Mughal Road tostart repair work on 21 kms stretch so that trucks loaded with essentialcommodities and fruits can move smoothly.

   

Without disturbing fragile atmosphere around the MughalRoad, Khan asked concerned officers to establish eco-friendly cafeteria, biotoilets, prefabricated shelter sheds, medical facilities, automobile workshops,communication system, police and traffic posts and other roadside amenities atDubjan, Zaznar and Peer Ki Gali for commuters and tourists.

Disaster Management Department were also asked to deploy menand equipments with blankets, sleeping bags and tents with oxygen kits alongthe road.

Khan directed Director Tourism to immediately complete thepending work of Tourist Reception Center (TRC) at Herpora, Shopian to attractmore tourists towards scenic locations along the road.

To clear snow on the Mughal Road at the earliest, MechanicalEngineering Department (MED) will also establish a sub division for the MughalRoad.

The Div Com emphasized upon the concerned departments topress more men and machinery and gear up the pace of works to complete themwithin a week.

Khan asked Deputy Commissioner of Shopian to furnishprogress report of all works within eight days to his office.

He stressed on removing all bottlenecks immediately so thatthe commuters do not face inconvenience during their journey on the MughalRoad.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Chief Engineer Mughal Road,Directors of Health, Disaster Management & Tourism, Regional Wild LifeWarden and other concerned officers were present in the meeting where as DeputyCommissioner Shopian participated the meeting through video conferencing.
