Govt orders mass promotion of class 1 to 9, and class 11 students of Jammu

The school education department on Tuesday approved mass promotion of all government and private school students from class 1 to 9 and class 11 in Jammu division.

The government has also approved mass promotion for studentswho were supposed to appear in bi-annual class 11 exams of both Jammu andKashmir division.

   

An official said the decision was taken after a proposal wassubmitted by Chairperson, JK Board of School Education (BOSE) Veena Pandita onApril 4, seeking mass promotion to the students.

The proposal was approved keeping in view delay in thecommencement of new academic session.

“The students from class 1 to 9 had already appeared intheir annual examination but the evaluation of their answer scripts anddeclaration of result was pending due to the prevailing situation,” saidDirector School Education Jammu (DSEJ), Anuradha Gupta.

She said the new academic session was supposed to commencein Jammu from April 1 which was however delayed due to the lockdown.

“Keeping in view the present circumstances, the evaluationand declaration of result would consume lot of time and delay the commencementof new session. That is why the proposal for mass promotion to the students wassubmitted to the government,” she said.

The Director, School Education, Jammu has been asked tomonitor and finalize the mass promotion as per approved norms.

“The students of class 11 who were to appear in annualregular exams falling under summer zone of Jammu division (that standspostponed) be promoted to class 12 as one time exemption,” it reads.

The class 11 students will be promoted subject to thecondition they have filled examination form and every student was foundeligible to appear in the exams and a roll number slip issued to him by theBoard.

Also, the class 11 students from winter zones of Jammu andKashmir division who were to appear in the private biannual exam will beconsidered for mass promotion as well.

The students will be promoted provided they have duly filedin the examination forms as per JKBOSE norms and have been approved by theauthorities.

“The promotion of the students (in both the divisions) shallbe subject to the condition that, if for any reason and at any stage in future,it is found that a candidate was not eligible for appearing in Class 11th buthas been declared fit for promotion by the school, JKBOSE reserves the right tocancel his/her promotion without any prior notice,” the official communiquereads.
