Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmad, today directed the Municipal Committee Shopian (MCS) to immediately remove encroachments on all busy roads in and around the Shopian town.
Reviewing the traffic management in the district, the DC also directed the traffic authorities to take strict action against traffic violators, particularly in and around the fruit market, an official handout said.
He instructed the MCS to immediately undertake anti-encroachment drives around Arhama fruit mandi, Batpora bypass, Shopian-Srinagar road among other busy places and roads. He also directed the officials to remove illegal structures and vendors who encroach roads for ensuring smooth traffic movement.
The DC also directed the concerned authorities to penalise heavy motor vehicles and loaded trucks who enter the jurisdictions of towns from 9 am to 5 pm.
ADC Shopian and senior officers from Police, Traffic and Municipal authorities were present in the meeting.
