Govt rehires 550 subject-specific teachers for one month

The J&K government on Monday accorded sanction for the re-hiring of 550 subject-specific teachers for 110 up-graded schools in state. The teachers will be re-hired on contract basis by the department.

The order for re-hiring of subject specific teachers wasissued in wake of the decision taken by the state administrative council (SAC)on July 8.

   

Around 550 subject-specific teachers were earlier recruitedunder erstwhile RMSA scheme by the department last year on contract basis for110 upgraded schools for a period of one year on consolidated salary of Rs30000 per month.

The teachers were recruited for a period of one academicsession in March 2018. However the services of these teachers were extendedfrom March 2019 for three months. The services of these teachers wereterminated on June 30 which led to the academic crises in the schools due tothe dearth of subject specific teachers in the educational institutions acrossstate.

Greater Kashmir last week reported about the academic crisescreated in schools due to disengagement of subject specific teachers inmid-session.

Already reported, the teachers were disengaged despite therecommendations from state project directorate of Samagra (erstwhile RMSA) forcontinuing services of subject specific teachers keeping in view the ongoingacademic session and dearth of teaching staff in schools.

The recommendation were put forth keeping in view theongoing academic session due to which it was not feasible for department tostart fresh recruitment for subject specific teachers for the left out academicsession this year.

The secretary school education department today issued anorder and accorded sanction for the temporary re-hiring of 550 subject specificteachers for 110 schools upgraded under RMSA.

“The services have been re-hired purely on contract basis.Only those teachers will be re-hired who have already rendered their servicesduring 2019 up to June 30,” reads the order.

It reads that the contract period of these teachers willrestart from July 10 to August 10 in winter zone while as from July 15 toAugust 15 in summer zone schools.

“The candidate shall give fresh undertaking as perprescribed procedure. The rehiring will be terminated on the prescribed datesor provision of regular teaching staff by the department by way ofrationalization, whichever is earlier,” the order reads.
