The government is going to erect robust electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the state for the newly introduced fleet of electric buses of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), Principal Secretary, Transport department, Asgar Hassan Samoon, said Thursday.
The decision was taken in a meeting, which was attended byMD SRTC, Bilal Ahmed, Chief Engineer M&RE, Hashmat Qazi, Director FinanceTransport, Mahesh Das, and representatives of oil companies.
The SRTC has already setup two charging stations in Jammuand Srinagar for its newly introduced fleet of 40 electric buses.
The Principal Secretary asked the officials to identifysecure places for setting up charging stations in all districts. Saying thatelectric vehicles are the future of the transport sector, he stressed on theneed to up with EV charging stations across the state.
