Gunfight breaks out in Charar-e-Sharif woods in central Kashmir’s Budgam

A gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces in Hapatnar area of Charar-e-Sharif of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.

Quoting reports, news agency GNS reported that a joint team of army and the state police cordoned off the suspected spot following “credible input” about presence of some militants in the area.

   

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.

“Brief exchange of fire at Hapat Naalah area of Zinpanchal in District Budgam. Area under cordon. Details shall follow,” said the police.

Quoting sources, GNS reported that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
