A gunfight is underway between militants and the goverment forces in Sekipora area of Bijbhera in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said on Friday.
“Exchange of fire between Security force and militants at Bijbehara (in) District Anantnag. Security forces (are) on Job. Details will follow,” police said on Twitter.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 3RR and SOG Anantnag launched a cordon and search operation before dawn in Sekipora following inputs about the presence of militants.
As soon as the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight.
