Gunfight underway in south Kashmir's Shopian

A gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Reports said that the initial exchange of fire took place at 3 am in Gadapora village of the district following which there was a lull until 7:40 am when the gunfight started again.

They said that the gunfight began after the forces laid a siege to the village following inputs about the presence of militants there.

Two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the village, reports said.
