A gunfight is underway between militants and the government forces in Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar.
Reports said that the exchange of fire is going on since 2 AM.
A local resident told Greater Kashmir over phone that they heard the sound of blast and gunfire early today.
“Encounter is going on at the outskirts of Srinagar. Area under cordon. Details will follow,” police said on Twitter.
