Former Deputy Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Sunday pitched for an all-weather road connecting Gurez with Bandipora, urging the central as well as state government to explore possibilities.
A statement issued by Gurezi claimed that he walked around50 kilometres on foot from Razdan Pass Vig Gali to Gurez, in a bid to assessthe shortest road connectivity from Athwatoo, Bandipora to Gurez.
“The road will connect Gurez near Khandyal with Atwatoo inBandipora and it will reduce the distance from 84 to 40 km. Besides, the roadwill provide all-weather connectivity,” the statement read.
He said that the people of Gurez have been demanding anall-weather road since a long time and urged the central and state governmentto explore possibilities and fulfill the demand.
On the sidelines, Gurezi also inaugurated a hotel andrestaurant at Shahpora area in Gurez.
