Deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly Nazir Gurezi has expressed displeasure over the decision taken by the Apex court against what he called the “genuine interests” of ST/SC categories.
Condemning the attacks on protestors at different places in the country during Bharat bandh, Gurezi said that in democratic set up everyone has the right to raise his voice for his right.
He said that it was also a way to register the resentment against the decision. “Lathi charge on protestors, who were demonstrating peacefully should have been avoided,” Gurezi said.
He demanded that the central and state governments should protect the interests of schedule tribe and schedule caste categories in the longer interest of the country.
Gurezi urged the central government to file the review petition. “The Government should line lawyers for the petition in the Apex court so that justice to the ST/SC categories is ensured at the earliest,” he added. (GKNN)
