Hajin shuts on 2nd consecutive day against militant’s killing

A complete shutdown was observed on the second consecutive day in Hajin township of Bandipora district against the killing of LeT militant Abu Harris.

All shops, business establishments and private offices remained closed in the town while public transport was off the roads.

On Monday, government forces had launched a search operation at Bon Mohala village in Hajin. During the searches, some gun shots were heard in which a militant was injured but he managed to escape from the spot.

However, on next day, the militant’s body was found lying at Khos Mohalla and the locals rushed to the spot and buried him in a local graveyard.

Situation remained tense in Hajin as locals woke up to allegedly dismantled grave of Haris buried there on Tuesday. The locals suspected that the body of Haris has been taken away during night. However, SSP Bandipora, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad termed these as “rumours.” “People are requested not to pay heed to such rumours, ” the SSP added.

Meanwhile, internet services except broadband in Bandipora district continued to be blocked on second consecutive day.
