Handwara gunfight fallout: Internet snapped, class work suspended

Authorities on Tuesday suspended the mobile Internet service in parts of Handwara following a gunfight that left two militants dead.

The telecom companies were directed to snap the Internet services in Handwara parts, reported GNS news agency.

   

It said the district administration Kupwara has decided to suspend class work today in GDC Handwara and all Higher Secondary Schools of Mawar and Langate zones as a precautionary measure.

An official said that two militants were killed in a gunfight with the forces in Galoora area of Handwara late last night.

He said the army’s 30 RR, 92 BN CRPF and SOG cordoned Galoora area of Langate following “credible” inputs about the presence of militants.

The militants opened fire on a search party, leading to a gunfight.
