HC Bar denounces Zakura land transfer

J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) Wednesday denounced “the handing over of 60 Kanals of land at Zakoora to the CRPF for 99 years by the District Magistrate, Srinagar” terming the act as “violation of the orders of the High Court”.

“The act is a blatant violation of law and the directions ofthe High Court and we seek initiation of suo moto contempt proceedings againstthose who have disobeyed the orders of the High Court,” the Bar in a statement.

   

The Bar members also appreciated the Special Rapporteurs ofUnited Nations Human Rights Council “who have written to India and soughtdetails on steps taken to provide justice to victims and next of their kin in76 cases of torture and arbitrary killing of civilians in J&K from 1990.”

The Bar members also appreciated the role played byAssociation of Parents of Disappeared Persons and J&K Coalition of CivilSociety who highlighted the human rights violations.
