HC seeks record regarding Masrat Alam’s 37th PSA detention

The High Court has sought records relating to Muslim League chairman Masarat Alam Bhat’s detention under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Bhat has challenged 37th PSA detention in a petition filed by his uncle before Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

A bench of Justice Sanjeev Kumar has directed state’s additional advocate general Shah Amir to produce the record on next date of hearing after two weeks.

The direction came after Bhat’s counsel Mian Tufail submitted that detention order requires to be quashed as it was bad in terms of law. In November last year, 37th PSA was slapped against Aalam.
