Highways, Mughal Road reopen for traffic

Srinagar-Jammu national highway, Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal road have been reopened on Saturday after they were closed because of incessant rains during past two days.

“Srinagar-Jammu national highway, Srinagar-Leh highway andMughal road have been reopened for traffic,” Superintendent of Police, Traffic(Rural), Muzaffer Ahmad Shah told Greater Kashmir. “Srinagar-Jammu nationalhighway remained closed for two hours only.”

   

However, he said, heavy vehicles including trucks would notbe allowed on Srinagar-Leh highway as the repair work is still going on.

 The Jammu-Srinagarnational highway was closed for traffic on Saturday after shooting stones andmudslides hit the strategic road at several places in Ramban district of Jammuand Kashmir. The highway was closed after shooting stones and mudslides hit the highway at 10.40 am in Pantiyal,Iron stand Digdool, Battery Cheshma, Anokhi fall and four lane tunnel number 2at Kelamore Ramban.
