Hurriyat Conference (G) has condemned the summoning of editors and owners of reputed media houses in Kashmir.
“We strongly condemn summoning of editors and owners ofreputed media houses. For the past so many decades every individual of thisnation and its every institution is paying a heavy price for the historicalblunders of its myopic and self centered political stalwarts,” Hurriyat(G) spokesperson said in a statement.
“Throttling and curbing the media houses is part of thevast game plan by the fascist forces, using the mask of so-called democracy todestroy every fabric of it, and those thumbing the chest to uphold the sanctityof fourth pillar of democracy are themselves the architects of the undemocraticassault on media,” the statement said.
“Like every institution media people too have astrenuous and suffocating environment to carry out their professional duties andthey too had to face a double edged sword from the last so many decades.Although front pages and lead news is usually reserved for the rulers, butstill the sentiments of people managed to get some space, somewhere. But rulerscannot tolerate even that,” it said.
