Hurriyat (G) leaders, activists hold demo at Hyderpora

Hurriyat Conference (G) leaders and activists today held a protest demonstration  at Hyderpora  Chowk here against the assault on Article 53 A and miserable plight of Kashmiri political detainees lodged in various jails in and outside Valley.

“Besides amalgam leaders and activists, hundreds of other people belonging to different walks of life also participated in protest,” the Hurriyat spokesman, in a statement today, said.

   

“The Government of India wants to abolish the state subject law of the state to change its Muslim majority character,” the spokesman quoted Hurriyat leaders as having said while addressing the protesters. 

“Amid loud slogans the leaders reiterated their unwavering commitment and pledge to carry the movement for right to self-determination to its logical end,” the spokesman said. 

Terming the New Delhi’s ‘stubbornness’ as a main obstacle in resolution of Kashmir dispute, the leaders said, “The demand for right to self-determination is democratic, political and legitimate in all respects. So the India’s stubbornness is illogic and against the annals of the history of partition of India.”

The Hurriyat leaders condemned the ‘inhuman’ treatment being meted out to the detainee in various jails. They demanded a high level probe by Amnesty International, International Red Cross, Human Rights Watch and Human Rights Commission of UN into the ‘physical as well as mental torture’ of all the political prisoners belonging to Jammu and Kashmir.
