Hurriyat (M) concerned over LoC flare up

Hurriyat Conference (M) on Monday expressed serious concern over the escalating tensions between the armies of India and Pakistan especially in Poonch and Rajouri sector resulting in immense damage.

“Everytime when there is exchange of firing along the lineof control (LoC), the people on the both sides of the fence become the primarytarget and bear the brunt,” a spokesman of the Hurriyat, in a statement today,said.

   

“The lingering Kashmir dispute is the main reason of riftbetween India and Pakistan and until the issue of Kashmir is resolved amicablythe bitterness between the two countries, prevailing since decades, willcontinue,” the statement stated.

Demanding the rollback of ‘anti-people’ highway closureorder, the spokesman said, that barring civilian traffic on the highway twice aweek has caused immense hardships to the common masses. “The decision to closehighway for two days a week is an anti people move,” the statement said. 

“The Hurriyat strongly denounces the shifting of Jammu andKashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, already underPSA, from Jammu Jail to Delhi and handing him over to NIA and also the EDsummon to the minor daughters of resistance leader Shabir Ahmed Shah andshifting of resistance and religious leaders to Haryana jail,” the statementread.

“Shifting of prisoners to outside state prisons is againstthe Geneva Convention and also the Supreme Court of India rulings that stresseson lodging the inmates in jails closer to their homes. Shifting prisoners tojails that are thousands of kilometers away from their homes has added more tothe worries of relatives of inmates who are facing tremendous hardships inseeking permission to meet their dear ones,” the statement added.
